Ethylene is an important regulatory factor involved in plant salt stress response, while its molecular mechanisms are still unclear. So the key point is isolating genes both responding to salt and ethylene. Here we cloned a new transcription factor TaERF4 from wheat Shanrong No.3(SR3), which induced by salinity and ethylene. In this study, we use TaERF4 as an entry point to document the molecular mechanism of ethylene in responding to salinity stress in plant by using a combination of genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology and immunology method. The main results will include: 1) to clarify the role of TaERF4 in responding to ethylene and salinity stress; 2) to reveal the molecular mechanisms of plant salt tolerance mediate by ethylene; 3) to isolate and character the downstream genes of TaERF4. The research results will help to expand the regulation theory of plant salt tolerance, and contribute new theoretical and genetic resources for the cultivation of varieties of salt-tolerant crops.
