中文摘要: 目前气候模式对东亚季风区对流和层云降水的模拟仍存在很大不足。本项申请以研究东亚季风区对流和层云降水模拟的不确定性为重点,应用有效收敛到最优参数的取样方法,改变微物理过程和对流过程关键参数进行数值模拟试验,对比东亚季风区对流和层云降水对不同参数的敏感性差异,确定影响降水的关键参数和关键物理过程,定量分析模式参数的不确定性,估计最优参数,检验最优参数在不同区域不同季节的普适性。在此基础上,分析模式对流和层云降水比率变化对凝结潜热释放的影响,研究大气环流对潜热释放变化的响应,改善模式对季风降水和环流的模拟。

英文摘要: It has been a challenge to simulate the East Asian monsoon precipitation in climate models. The main objective of this proposal is to study the uncertainty in the modeling of convective and stratiform precipitation over East Asian monsoon region and its impact on the simulated monsoon circulation. A stochastic importance-sampling algorithm that can progressively converge to optimal parameter values is applied here to sample the parameters in convection and microphysics schemes. Based on abundance of simulation results, we will evaluate the model performance on the regional and seasonal variability of convective and stratiform precipitation against TRMM observation, analyze the sensitivity of convective and stratiform precipitation to different parameters, quantify the uncertainty for each parameter, and improve the precipitation simulation. Furthermore, we will investigate how the circulation responds to the simulated precipitation since convective and stratiform precipitation produce different latent heating profiles, so as to improve the simulation of monsoon circulation.
