The success of virtual communities greatly depends on the voluntary participation and continued contribution of their members. No matter which is established community or new community, they all face the problem that the activity of participation of their members will decrease over time, thus understanding the sustained participative behavior is an emerging focus of researcher and operator. However, the extant literature through cross-sectional survey ignores the fact that the original motivating benefits may erode over time, which might not be sufficient for explaining the mechanism of sustained participation and the long-term influence of management incentive in community. Based on the theories of motivation and social identity, this project investigates the motivation difference of members' initial versus sustained participation, drawing upon legitimate peripheral participation (LPP) theory to examine the dynamic coevolution of identity construction、situated learning associated with sustained participation by longitudinal data analysis, and reveal the psychological process of how a peripheral member becomes a core member in virtual community. This research also wants to explain how the incentive of virtual community influence their members' participation in the long run. The finding sheds some new light on th
