The Jumbo flying squid (Dosidicus gigas) is one of most abundant and ecological important species widely distributed in the Southeastern Pacific Ocean. It plays a critical role in Chinese distant-water jigging fisheries with the largest yield more than 240,000 tones. Up to now, few studies focused on Dosidicus gigas life history has restricted the sustainable use and scientific manage of the resources, although it was large-scale developed more than 20 years. Statolith is one of hard tissues of cephalopod with structural satbility and storage of much information. In this study, we use multidisciplinary approach including geostatistics to investigate the migration strategy of D. gigas in the Southeastern Pacific Ocean base on statolith microstructure and microchemical information analysis. Our objectives of this study are to determine suitable habitat of each ontogenetic stage (embryonic, paralarval, juvenile, subadult and adult stages), speculate potential spawning and feeding ground and reconstruct migration strategy between the two places, which will provide the basis for mastering the distribution and population dynamics of D. gigas resources. Besides, we want to find reasons for the decline of Dosidicus gigas yield and change of distribution off Peruvian waters during El Nino by migration routes difference a
