中文摘要: 组织的管理层通常期望使用者能直接使用信息系统(IS)来达到预期的效益。然而,信息系统的指定使用者被经常发现在工作中会要求其他人代替自己来操作信息系统。这样的一种信息系统使用行为称为信息系统的间接使用。以往关于信息系统(IS)使用的研究都是以使用者直接使用IS为前提,研究影响IS直接使用的前因及其产生的结果,但却忽视了工作场所中IS间接使用的普遍性。本研究提出IS间接使用这一概念,并(1)探究IS直接使用和IS间接使用的差异与联系,提出IS的直接使用与间接使用的不可相互替代行;(2)通过实证研究应用社会权力理论的多种权力形式探讨影响IS直接使用和IS间接使用的前因;(3)据此进一步从差异行为角度深入分析IS直接使用和间接使用对工作绩效的不同作用机制。通过上述研究,以期为IS使用的作用机制提供新的补充,拓展现有的管理理论,为组织制定IS使用的管理政策及实践提供有效的指导。

英文摘要: When an information system (IS) is introduced, the organizational management often expects employees to directly use it. However, actual user behavior in organizations may differ from this expectation because designated system users may delegate the system interaction tasks to other people. This behavior is called indirect IS use, a behavior that has been acknowledged in some studies but not adequately scrutinized. In this proposal, we develop the theoretical expositions of direct IS use and indirect IS use, identify their antecedents and assess their impact on job performance. Specifically, we will first conduct an extensive literature review of IS use to explain the non-substitutive nature of direct and indirect IS use. Second, we will examine antecedents of direct and indirect IS use through the social power lens in the context of healthcare IS in China. Third, we will leverage on the deviance theory to assess the impact of direct and indirect IS use. We will adopt a multi-method approach in the two proposed empirical studies. The theoretically grounded research framework will be revised by case studies of healthcare providers in China. The revised research models will be validated via large scale survey and archival data of healthcare providers in China. This research will not only advocate the importance of indirect IS use in organizational IS implementations, but also shed light on how organizational management can leverage social power to meet various IS use objectives.
