中文摘要: 河流每年向海洋输入大量还原性陆源有机碳,然许多同位素和生物标记法研究显示仅少部分陆源有机碳埋藏于海洋沉积物,这是目前全球碳循环最大谜题之一。大陆边缘含多种点源输送的固相、溶解有机质,若知海、陆两端元的值,即可运用两端元碳同位素(δ13C)混合模型或两端元Br/OC比值模型估算大陆边缘沉积物的海、陆来源有机碳埋藏通量来揭开该谜题。本项目将对中国东部"河流-河口-近岸海区"连续体的河流悬浮颗粒物、表层沉积物及沉积物岩芯展开调查,拟计划在研究较少的晋江、闽江和瓯江采样,测量其总有机碳、氮、溴及δ13C值。通过两端元δ13C混合模型及Br/OC比值模型,我们可对这些河流固体颗粒物输入量及相邻大陆边缘沉积物中海、陆来源有机碳输出通量进行定量。此外,本项目还将评估Br/OC比值模型的可靠性,延伸其在古海洋学、西太平洋边缘海有机碳埋藏方面研究的应用。

英文摘要: Rivers export a huge amount of reduced terrestrial organic carbon (OC) to the oceans; however, most isotopic and biomarker studies reveal burial of a small fraction of land-derived OC in marine sediments. This is one of the biggest mysteries of the global carbon cycle and thus needs to be investigated in detail. This can be achieved by the estimation of burial fluxes of terrestrial versus marine organic carbon (OCTERR vs. OCMAR) in the sediments of continental margin, where point sources deliver large amounts of dissolved and particulate OC. The best way to quantify these burial fluxes is to apply two end-member mixing models of carbon isotope (δ13C) and/or bromine to organic carbon (Br:OC) ratio, given that both proxies have distinguishable end-member values for land and marine origins. In this project, we will investigate the total contents of organic carbon, nitrogen, Br, and δ13C in river suspended solids, surface sediments and core sediments in river-estuarine-coastal ocean continuum of East China region. Less investigated rivers such as Jinjiang, Minjiang and Oujiang will be sampled to execute the project objectives.
