The galactic corona is an important predicetion of the galaxy formation and evolution theory. However, it is not supported by the X-ray observations. Recent observations suggest that the supernova/stellar feedback, not the accretion of intergalactic medium, plays probably a dominated role in the formation and evolution of the hot gaseous coronae. Based on the analysis of Swift survey data of nearby galaxies and multi-wavelength data of galactic coronae and supernova remnants, the proposed project will study the feedback from supernovae and the physics of X-ray emitting gas in galaxies. We will construct by far the largest sample of nearby galaxies (about 300) that have X-ray observations, in order to systematically study the spatial distribution, luminosity and thermal properties, the origin problem, and the missing baryons problem of the hot gas. Moreover, we will study the over-ionized/recombining plasma and their physical mechanisms in supernova remnants, and the process of the interaction between the metal ejecta and the interstellar medium. The combination of these two aspects will help us understand the role that the supernova feedback plays in galaxy evolution.
