Transport is an important step in the environmental geochemical behaviors of nanoparticles. However, it is hard to observe or quantify the transport and deposition of carbon nanoparticles in porous environment. This study will use the emerging technology of photolithographic micromodel to simulate the multiphase porous media such as soils and minerals. The micromodel will be used to quantify the transport of carbon nanoparticles in media, to explore the effects of humic substances, proteins, polysaccharides, and the effects of silicon, ferric and aluminium oxide surfaces. The relationship of transport with particle aggregation and deposition will also be studied. The objectives of this study include the better understanding of the transport and deposition of carbon nanoparticles, clarifying the influences of organic matters and the oxide surfaces, and revealing the relationship among transport, aggregation and deposition. This study will provide scientific information to predict the environmental and geological processes and to evaluate the risk of carbon nanoparticles.
