In this work, we investigate hanging nodes in the context of a posteriori error estimators for algebraic flux-correction (AFC) schemes for stationary convection-diffusion equations. Numerical simulations illustrating the satisfaction and the violation of the discrete maximum principle (DMP) for the BJK limiter and the Kuzmin limiter, respectively, are presented in two dimensions.
