Physical property, liquid structure, and their evolutions in solidification process of alloy melts have significant effects on structure, state, and performance after solidification. In the present project, some binary alloys are chosen as the research objects. Evolutions of physical property and liquid structure will be researched in solidification process by high temperature viscometer, thermal dilatometer, high temperature X-ray diffractometer, etc. The differences of liquid structure evolution and dynamic behavior near liquidus among different alloys will be obtained to reveal different liquid-solid transformation patterns and their essences. The internal relations between physical properties and liquid structural characteristics of alloy melts will be explored and the quantitative relation model between them will be established. In liquid-solid interval, the influence of two-phase collision and competition on liquid structure and solidification behavior will be investigated. Meanwhile, the new thought for glass-forming ability of alloys will be provided based on evolutions of liquid structure and physical property. The results of this project will provide theory basis and guidance for enriching and developing of solidification theory, solidification process control, and researching and developing of new type metal materials.
