中文摘要: 青少年的数学认知能力对其学业及今后职业发展起到关键作用。以往研究发现,执行功能的个体差异能够解释相当部分的数学认知能力变异。但是,导致两者相关的心理机制尚无定论。本研究拟探讨执行功能的不同模块(转换、刷新及抑制)与青少年的数学认知之间的关系的模式及内在机制。具体而言,将通过横向研究、纵向研究及认知训练研究设计,探讨执行功能与数量感、基本数量加工能力及数学学习行为三方面的因果关系,并探讨这些关系是否会最终影响青少年的数学学业成绩。该项目的实施,将最终建立起执行功能与青少年数学认知的结构模型,同时为青少年的数学教育提供实践建议。

英文摘要: Adolescents’ mathematical cognition is critical for academic achievement and career developments in late adulthood. Previous studies found that individual differences in executive function contribute a significant amount of variance in individual differences in mathematical cognition. However, less is known about the underlying psychological mechanism under this correlation. In the current study, we aim to explore the relationships between different modules of executive function (i.e., shifting, updating, and inhibition) and mathematical cognition in adolescence. Specifically, via cross-sectional, longitudinal, and cognitive training designs, our study will explore: 1) the relationships between executive function and three important aspects of mathematical cognition, namely, number sense, basic numerical processing and mathematical learning; 2) how the aforementioned relationships affect academic achievement in mathematics. Our study will not only build a structural model about the relationship between executive function and mathematical cognition in adolescence, but also provide practical suggestions on mathematical education in middle schools.
