英文摘要: Myosins are a type of molecular motor proteins in eukaryotes, which convert energy from ATP hydrolysis into mechanical movement. While conventional myosins distribute largely in muscle cells, unconventional myosins exist in all types of vertebrate cells and play a key role in intracellular trafficking. Among the 25 unconventional myosins identified in human, Myo19 is one of the least studied myosins. A recent study shows that Myo19 play a role in mitochondrial transportation. However, little is known about Myo19 at molecular level. In the proposed study, we will investigate the molecular structure and the motor function of Myo19. Specifically, we will identify the light chain(s) associated with Myo19, characterize the motor activity of Myo19, and investigate the regulation of Myo19. This study will provide molecular insight into the physiological function of Myo19.
