Camellias, one of the top ten traditional famous flowers, Originated in China. China is the distribution center and the original birthplaces. More than 80% species of Camellia which is about 200 distribute in China, and a large number of colorful, different attitude varieties were formed in the two thousand years of cultivation and application process. Abundant germplasm resources has caused great difficulties and higher costs for preservation, resulting in a huge loss of resources, and limited the in-depth research and efficient use of them. The project intends to systematically collect, sort out and evaluate the basic data, characteristic data and evaluation and identification data of Camellia resources, and then establish and standardize germplasm resources database. To unbiase predict genotypic values using statistical analysis method of mixed linear model, and build core collection of camellias by genotypic values. To evaluate the validity of the core collection constructed by the use of principal component analysis, correlation analysis and distinguish analysis and other data analysis methods. Select and dig out the specific and high quality core collection for focusing conserve. The building of Camellias core collection will benefit the collection, evaluation and preservation of focus germplasm, greatly improving the efficiency of resource use, and provide material and theoretical basis for germplasm innovation and improved varieties.
