Widespread applications of carbonaceous nanomterials in various industries will inevitably result in the release of a substantial amount of them into the environment. Nanoparticles, which released into the environment, will not only directly interact with environmental biologies, but also interact with other environmental pollutants resulting in great change of their environmental behaviour, such as mobility and bioavailability. It has reported that some carbon nanoparticles, such as multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), could even enter the cell of a plant, so the interaction between carbon nanoparticles and pollutants might lead to unpredictable boilogical effects. However, few studies have been carried out to examine the complex interactions of carbonaceous nanoparticles with co-existing environmental pollutants in complex environmental systems. Thus, this project selects organic contaminant phenanthrene and heavy metal Pb as typical environmenal pollutants, and investigates the joint effect of these environmental pollutants and MWCNTs with various morphologies and functional groups on edible plants, respectively. The study explores the boilogical effects which might be altered by the interaction between MWCNTs and pollutants, and discusses the relations among carbon nanoparticles, environmental poll
