The sociality trait of information seeking has been more and more prominent under Web 2.0. As an emerging online information seeking approach, social search not only challenges traditional theories of information seeking, but also influences people's behavior in information seeking. Nowadays, rare attention has been paid to user cooperation as well as collaboration among users, platforms and resources in terms of theoretical frame, research subjects and research techniques in the research field of information seeking. Our project aims to carry out research on the formation mechanism and implementation pattern of social search in the collaboration perspective by Social Network Analysis, computational experiment, survey and laboratory experiment approaches. Firstly, we'll analyze users' motivation of participation in social search by setting up individual and group behavior model. Secondly, we'll focus on probing into the formation mechanism of social search through research on collaboration among users, platforms and resources. Finally, we'll try to put forward implementation pattern of social search after discussing how to promote users' information literacy and cognitive absorption. Our project is supposed to improve basic framework of social search, investigate its underlying mechanism and advance research approaches theoretically, as well as to enhance competitiveness for Internet companies and yield some implications for government practically.
