中文摘要: 二维材料以其新奇的物理性质在过去十余年赢得了广泛的关注。其中以二硫化钼为代表的过渡族金属硫属化物(TMD)得到了深入的研究。而对主族金属硫属化物——例如SnS2、SnSe2等二维材料的研究则方兴未艾。它们的单层或少数几层的电子学性质尚不明朗。在本项目中,我们计划采用电输运和扫描隧道显微镜的手段来解答这一问题。利用机械剥离和微纳加工的方法制备单层和几层的SnS2、SnSe2和SnSxSe2-x场效应管,通过输运的方法测量它们的器件性能,通过扫描隧道显微镜的方法研究它们的能带结构。从中可以得到这一类材料的电子学性质与原子层数及与化学组成的关系,为二维材料的研究拓展新的领域。

英文摘要: Two dimensional (2D) materials have attracted global attention in the past decade. Among them the transitional metal dichalcogenides (TMD) such as MoS2 etc. have been under the focus of current research, while research of similar 2D materials with the transitional metals replaced by the IVA metals (such as SnS2 and SnSe2 etc.) is at its initial stage. Knowledge of their electronic properties in the 2D limit is still lacking. In this project, we will use transport and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) techniques to study these materials. With mechanical exfoliation and nanofabrication techniques, we will fabricate mono- and multi-layer SnS2, SnSe2 and SnSxSe2-x field effect transistors (FET). We will use transport techniques to evaluate their properties as electronic devices, and use the STM to study their band structures. We will also explore their dependence on layer number and chemical compositions. Our work will help to expand current research territory of 2D materials.
