中文摘要: 工作记忆是指感觉信息被短时的储存,操作和维持在大脑神经系统中,而使用于之后的相关行动。工作记忆的受干扰和缺失,将会极大的影响到人们智力、思维和记忆,甚至日常生活。因此理解工作记忆的机理具有重要的意义。大量科学工作已经发现了高级皮层,包括前额叶、后顶叶以及颞叶等高级联合皮层区域与工作记忆的维持相关。近几年来,人们发现初级感觉皮层,例如初级视觉、触觉和听觉皮层,都以不同的程度参与了工作记忆的神经认知过程。然而,具体来说这些初级感觉皮层是如何参与,以及如何在工作记忆等高级认知活动中发挥作用,我们还知之甚少。本项目中,我们将训练灵长类动物猕猴学习触觉工作记忆任务,利用最新的直线多点电极,在初级触觉皮层分别记录颗粒上层,颗粒层和颗粒下层的电生理信号(单细胞放电和局部场电位),重点研究初级触觉皮层在触觉工作记忆(和决策作出)中的神经机理,将进一步深化我们对工作记忆相关的高级认知活动的认识。

英文摘要: Working memory has been defined as the system which actively stores, manipulates and maintains information for a short time in mind for later actions. Working memory deficits will dramatically affect our intelligence、thinking 、memory and even our daily activities. Therefore, it is crucial to understand the neural mechanism underlying working memory. A large number of literature has shown that the higher-level cortical regions, including prefrontal, parietal and temporal association areas, are involved in this neural process. Recent years, researchers have realized that the primary sensory cortex, such as primary visual, somatosensory and auditory cortices, to certain extent, also participates in working memory. However, how these sensory areas function in this process is barely understood. In this proposed study, we will train monkeys to learn a haptic-haptic working memory task, and record single units and local field potentials with the linear multielectrode (U-Probe) in the primary somatosensory cortex. This linear multi-electrode can help us reconstruct the local neural circuitry, by collecting information from supragranular, granular and infragranular cortical layers.
