Food poisoning caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus has been the popular foodborne diseases in summer and autumn. TDH and TRH genes are the major virulence genes of pathogenic VP. The project intends to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of VP, and analyze the relationship of epidemiological indicators, virulence genes and pathogenicity. Then the project will comprehensively compares the biological differences of the pathogenic and non-pathogenic VP to supply direct or indirect evidences for the formation mechanism of pathogenic VP. On this basis, the project will study the phage-mediated transfer mechanisms of the virulence genes or pathogenicity islands by homologous recombination technology, thus to reveal the phage-mediated formation mechanism of pathogenicity VP in the environment and human body. Finally, the morphology and function of phage will be studied. The project will provide a scientific basis for prevention and control of the food poisoning of VP, and will open up a new research field for the studies of VP pathogenesis and regulation mechanisms of virulence genes.
