中文摘要: 固态硬盘是一种正在改变存储系统体系结构的新型存储设备,由于固态硬盘独特的物理特点,从而导致固态硬盘的内部结构与实现算法,以及存储系统的体系结构与工作负载对固态硬盘的读写性能、使用寿命与可靠性均形成独特的影响。但是,目前仍然缺乏适用于固态硬盘的理论模型来揭示不同的系统结构对固态硬盘性能的影响。本项目拟建模分析固态硬盘内部的垃圾回收算法与损耗均衡机制对固态硬盘读写性能与使用寿命的影响,并揭示两者之间的权衡关系,旨在准确掌握固态硬盘的性能与内部结构的关系,从而指导系统设计提升固态硬盘的性能。其次,本项目拟构建适用于固态硬盘的可靠性分析模型,从而为设计高可靠的存储系统提供理论分析工具与设计指导。最后,本项目拟建模分析固态硬盘在大规模存储系统中的可适用性,揭示不同的系统结构与工作负载对系统性能的影响,从而为基于固态硬盘的存储系统提供理论分析工具,并指导设计能有效利用固态硬盘性能的大规模存储系统。

英文摘要: Solid-state drives (SSDs) are a new type of storage devices which have been revolutionizing the architecture of storage systems. Due to their specific features, the I/O performance, durability and reliability of SSDs based storage systems are usually influenced by the internal architectures and algorithms of SSDs, architecture of the whole storage system and workloads of different applications in very different ways. However, such influence has not been well studied so far, and it still lacks theoretic models for SSDs to analyze the influence. Motivated by this, we first develop a theoretical framework to analyze the influence of garbage collection algorithms and wear-leveling techniques on the I/O performance and durability of SSDs, especially the design tradeoffs between them, so as to correctly characterize the relationship between the performance and internal architectures of SSDs, and to help system design so as to enhance the performance of SSDs. Besides, we also develop a theoretical model which is able to analyze the reliability of SSDs. We aim at providing theoretical guidance and analytical tools for designing highly reliable storage systems by using SSDs.
