Build the Data-driven AI Engine in The Era of Big Data Intelligence
Abstract:
In this speech, we will introduce our AI vision and technical framework in our big data intelligence strategy. Introduce our work in AIOT, multimedia content understanding, image generation and cross-modal retrieval in detail. More importantly, we will briefly introduce the application scenarios and express our views on the future trend of multimedia intelligence.
Biography:
Deng Ya Feng is the current head of the AI Research Institute and Search Business Division in Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. He is an alumnus of Tsinghua University and possesses over 18 years of research experience in the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence. He has published 11 papers and has applied for 135 patents in China, of which 98 have been approved. He was the CTO at DeepGlint Information Technologies Co. Ltd., and also held positions as an R&D specialist in multiple different companies, including Baidu Deep Learning Research Institute, Alibaba Cloud Computing and Shanda Innovation Institute. He is responsible for business relating to facial recognition, video content analysis, action recognition, image search, speech recognition, robotics, and deep learning with applications in natural language processing and recommendation systems. He has lead teams to first place positions in multiple international and domestic mainstream competitions, including FRVT, LFW, FDDB, KITTI and PRCV2019. He is a member on the CCF-Computer Vision Technical Committee, as well as the Computer Vision Standards Body. He also held the position of Smart Safety (Machine Vision) Specialist in Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, and was also a member of the Intel Advisory Committee.

Recent Progress of Computer Vision in Baidu when Technology Meets Industry
Abstract:
In recent years, much progress has been made to satisfy the surging but diverse needs of industries, ranging from the receipt reading to video generation. Though it’s believed these problems are solved to some degree, we are confronted with more challenging scenarios as well as the stricter client demands. In the talk, I’ll share our recent technological innovations in dealing with these scenarios, i.e., pretrained models, model slimming and 3D. Also, I’ll share some successful experiences in formulating all-in-one solutions to meet the industrial standards w.r.t efficiency and effectiveness.
Biography:
Gang Zhang is a senior engineer of Computer Vision Department (VIS in short) at Baidu. He is leading the team of model compression, automated deep learning, and face recognition. Recently, he has published 6 papers and won competitions such as LPIRC and CFAT in these areas. This year, he also co-organized NAS workshop in CVPR. His team and he are developing both PaddleSlim, a deep learning framework for model compression as well as architecture search, and commercial face recognition systems whose public cloud call has exceeded 100 millions since 2019.
