From physical world to digital world, 3D techniques in digital industry transformation
Abstract:
With continuous technological breakthroughs in computer science, our society is now facing digital innovation, and eventually, digital life would gradually become possible. In this report, I will take the home furnishings industry as an example to introduce some observations, explorations, and prospects of Alibaba in digital industry transformation.
We would like to see the 3D techniques bring evolved experience to both customers and agents. I will discuss the possibility of exploiting neural rendering for 3D object reconstruction, the main challenges faced by this routine towards practical 3D rendering workflows, and some of our solutions. I will also introduce our studies on high-quality 3D content generation such as layout synthesis, designing, viewpoint generation, and rendering, a complete set of industrial solutions. In the end, I would put forward some future hypotheses and ideas to digital industry.
Biography:
Binqiang Zhao is a Senior Staff Expert working for Tao Technology Department, Alibaba Group. He is leading an algorithm team which is devoted in 3D AI algorithms and AR technologies for online retail especially household furniture. His team has developed various algorithms for top user products in Tabao, such as Guangguang, iHome, Good Goods, Taobao Live, Taobao Shops, and shopping channels. His research interests include 3D object modeling, furniture scene understanding and synthesis, and recommender systems.

AI model training requires experts with advanced skills. Problems such as high technology barriers, high development costs, and long deployment period hinder the development of the industry-wide AI developer ecosystem. In order to help developers and the industry to deal with this system-level challenge more calmly, the new generation of AI framework MindSpore focuses on simple programming, end-cloud collaboration, easy debugging, and excellent performance, lowering the threshold of AI development. In this speech, I will share with you the challenges of the AI framework, MindSpore's solution ideas, and MindSpore's practices. We look forward to meeting with you.
