中文摘要: 云计算时代的到来将使计算机的数量在未来十年快速增长,日益普及的云系统所导致的大量能耗问题已引起政府和业界的重视。云数据库系统是云计算中最重要的一类系统,但现有高能效计算的研究成果尚不能完全有效的适用于云数据库系统,尚缺少有针对性的基于软件层面的能耗优化方法。本课题提出云数据库系统中"缩减节点的等待时间以减少空闲能耗"这一能耗优化方法,主要从评价模型和核心技术两个层面展开研究。模型层面研究如何建立多约束能耗评价模型和进行多目标优化求解。技术层面研究:通过优化资源分配和任务调度策略,消除资源瓶颈,减少资源等待;通过优化数据布局策略,提高节点并行性,减少节点间等待;通过优化作业执行策略,减少复杂查询作业的网络数据传输量,减少节点对数据传输的等待。此外本课题还将实现基于HBase的低能耗云数据库原型系统。本课题有利于开发新的云数据管理技术、推动云计算技术的应用,具有重要的科学意义和广泛的应用前景。

英文摘要: The coming of cloud computing era results in the rapid growth in the number of computers in the next decade; both government and industry have paid much attention on the energy issues caused by growing popularity of cloud system. Cloud database system is the most important cloud computing system, but unfortunately, existing research-results on energy-efficient computing cannot be completely and efficiently applied to cloud database system, lacking of software-based energy consumption optimization methods. This project proposes an optimization approach of "reducing idle power consumption by reducing node's waiting time". Our research is launched from two aspects: evaluation model and core technologies. In the model level, we study how to define a multi-constrained evaluation model for energy consumption and find the multi-objective optimization solution. In the technical level: we study how to eliminate resource bottleneck and reduce the time waiting for resources by optimizing resource allocation and task scheduling strategies, how to improve node parallelism and reduce waiting time among nodes by optimizing data layout strategy, and how to lessen the remote data transmission of complex query jobs and reduce node's waiting time for data transmission by optimizing job execution strategy.
