中文摘要: 表面等离激元是局域在金属-介质表面的电磁波,其场强离开金属-介质界面距离指数衰减。利用表面等离激元可以实现亚波长尺度的光操控,进而有可能实现高集成度光子学回路。本项目申请以金属表面的耦合光栅为基本结构单元,开展基于表面等离激元的平面光子学器件研究为目标,主要内容包括设计:(1)一种新型聚焦器,通过将圆型光栅聚焦器中光滑的圆弧光栅结构以分立的耦合光栅近似取代以提高线偏光下的激发效率,从而避免采用径向偏振光照明时带来的结构光源对准困难问题;(2)表面等离激元解复用器。通过照明解复用器,能在金属平面上实现表面等离激元的分波长聚焦。该解复用器同时具有光到表面等离激元的耦合、表面等离激元的聚焦和解复用三种功能。本项目提出通过设计耦合光栅的位置和长度来精确地调控表面等离激元的波前,为表面等离激元多功能器件设计提供了思路。

英文摘要: Surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) are electromagnetic waves bounded on a metal-dielectric interface with field intensity exponentially decay into both neighboring media. It allows for the manipulation of light in two dimensions with subwavelength scales with SPPs, which opens up the opportunity to realize highly integrated optical circuits.This project aims to develop planar plasmonic devices which are based on coupling grating structures. The project mainly includs developing: (1) a novel plasmonic lens, which designed by replacing annular rings in a classic plasmonic lens made of concentric metallic rings from disperse coupling gratings. By introducing the coupling gratings, it improves the SPPs excitation efficiency under linealy polarized illumination instead of matching the rotational symmetry of the plasmonic lens to the polarization symmetry of a radially polarized illumination.(2) a plasmonic demultiplexer, which can implement light-SPP coupling, SPP beam focusing, and effective wavelength demultiplexing. Finally, the flexible method to manipulating the wavefront of SPPs through controlling the position and length of coupling grating provides a way to achieve multi-functional plasmonic devices.
