Electroresistant polymers are the key components to construct the molecule-level two-terminal resistive memory devices, which have been one international frontier research area. The π-stacked polymers have excellent intramolecular non-covalent π-π interactions and hopping charge transport, in which their dynamic feature of supramolecular polymers probably provide one way to challenge the electroresistance of key scientific issue. In this project, a series of vinyl stacked polymers have been designed that will be synthesized, followed by the steric hindrance functionalization in order to systemically investigate the conformational change behaviors and controllable motion. We will focus on the relationship of stacked polymer structure-electronic structure-film morphology- device functionality and performance, making attempt to the realization and characterization of controllable motion, probably resulting in understanding the detailed relationships of stacked polymer memories and electroresistance, followed by developing new memory materials with bistable or multiple states. These explorations will provide principles and materials for the stable and high-performance resistive memories, such as flash, WORM and DRAM.
