中文摘要: RNA结构功能域在RNA/蛋白质的结合和RNA三级结构的稳定中起到重要作用。对RNA结构功能域的研究可以帮助人们探索RNA的未知功能和预测RNA的空间结构。RNA结构功能域识别的目的在于搜索更多已知的RNA结构功能域,RNA结构功能域提取的目的在于找出未知的RNA结构功能域。目前这一领域在算法的准确度和实验结果分析方面都还处于起步阶段。鉴于此,在本项目中我们将致力于提出高性能的算法用于识别和提取RNA结构功能域。拟提出的新方法将建立在对生物分子结构性质的分析和普鲁克分析的基础上。我们将尝试把普鲁克分析应用于RNA分子结构的相似性度量上,提高算法的准确度。另外我们会进一步分析实验结果,找出新的RNA结构功能域,并创建一个相对完整的RNA结构功能域数据库。本项目的预期成果将在理论和应用两方面促进RNA结构功能域识别和提取的发展。

英文摘要: RNA structural motifs play an important role in binding proteins and consolidating RNA tertiary structures. The study of RNA structural motifs can enrich our knowledge in RNA structure conformation and diverse RNA functions. RNA structural motif recognition aims to find RNA substructures which are similar to a query motif, and RNA structural motif extraction aims to discover new types of RNA structural motifs. Currently, only a few methods were proposed in this field which is far from satisfactory when regarding the accuray and results analysis. In view of this, we will lay our focus on devising novel high performance methods for RNA structural motif recognition and extraction. Specifically, the newly proposed methods will be based on the analysis of RNA structural features and the theory of Procrustes Analysis. In this project, we will attempt to apply Procrustes Analysis appropriately in RNA structural motif recognition and extraction and finaly improve the accuracy of current methods. In addition, we will further analyze the experimental results to discover new RNA structural motifs and create an RNA structural motif database in the end. The anticipated output of this project will benefit RNA structural motif recognition and extraction both in theory and in application.
