中文摘要: 新一代非易失性存储器,如相变存储器、忆阻器等,在数据读写时间及功耗等方面具有优越的性能。把非易失性存储纳入内存空间将成为解决传统计算机系统数据I/O瓶颈的有效的解决方案。同时,根据传统的计算机存储层次构建的计算机系统及优化技术将因此而发生革命性的变化。 非易失性存储器的共同特性是:1.非对称读写速度和能耗。2.有限的擦写耐受性能。本项目对新型非易失性存储器应用于计算机系统内存的设计与优化的根本性问题做基础研究。从系统优化的角度,对具有非易失性内存的单核与多核系统中的写感知调度、数据分布优化、数据迁移、损耗均衡优化,以及新型非易失性内存文件系统的设计和能效优化等问题进行深入的研究,分析问题的本质及复杂度,研究最优解算法或高效的近似最优解算法,提出综合的解决方案。研究成果将为非易失性内存在计算机系统中的应用提供具有普遍意义的优化算法和解决方案。

英文摘要: A new generation of non-volatile memories (NVM), including Phase-Change Memory, memristor, show advantages in time performance and power consumption for data accesses. Using NVMs in main memory is a promising way for solving the bottleneck of data I/O in computer systems. Accordingly, computer systems and their optimization techniques designed for the traditional memory hierarchy is facing a sea change. Non-volatile memories share two common characteristics: 1. Asymmetric read/write in terms of time performance and energy consumption; 2. Limited write-erase endurance. In this proposal, we pursue in-depth studies on the fundamental problems of system design and optimizations for both single-core and multi-core systems using NVMs in main memory. We will study write-aware scheduling, data migration, data allocation, wear-leveling problems, and non-volatile in-memory file system design and optimizations on various types of memory organizations including hybrid non-volatile memory, SPM, and cache. We will study the fundamental properties, complexity, optimal algorithms, polynomial-time heuristics, and integrated solutions for systems with non-volatile main memory. The techniques studies in this project will provide both general solutions and theoretical framework for practical application of non-volatile main memory in computer systems.
