中文摘要: 基于金属微纳结构的表面等离子体路由能够有效降低传统全电介质结构光子路由尺寸,在多处理器系统片上互联存在广阔的应用前景,最近刚刚引起学术界的重视。然而,在光学波段金属固有的吸收损耗严重降低了表面等离子体路由器件的性能。本项目拟采用混合光子-等离子体缝隙波导(HPPSW)结构取代传统的表面等离子体波导来降低信号的传输损耗,并基于HPPSW设计、实现混合光子-等离子体路由系统。同已有的表面等离子体路由相比,本项目的创新点在于: 1)发展低损耗结构减小等离子体路由中信号衰减,同时增加无阻塞路由端口数目; 2)同时研究多波长信号的波长路由以及单波长信号的动态路由。这一研究开辟了新的混合光子-等离子体路由研究方向,不仅有重要的学术价值,同时为智能电处理与宽带光链路提供无缝连接的过度平台,在片上网络领域具有更重要的应用价值。

英文摘要: The surface plasmonic (SP) router with micro/nano metal structures is more compact in size than the photonic router with all dielectric structures, and has potential applications in on-chip interconnected for multi-processor system. Until quite recently, it has attracted researchers' attentions. However, the strong absorption of light in metal decreases the performance of SP devices severely. In this project, the hybrid photonic-plasmonic slot waveguide (HPPSW) is used to reduce the transmission loss, and the hybrid photonic-plasmonic router will be designed and fabricated based on HPPSW. Comparing with the SP routers which have been reported, the hybrid photonic-plasmonic router has two advantages: 1) the introduction of HPPSW reduces the signal attenuation and makes the router having more input/output ports; 2) both wavelength selective router for muti-wavelength signals and dynamic router for single wavelength signals are considered in this project. The hybrid photonic-plasmonic router not only has high academic value, but also has more potential applications in network-on-chip system for that it can link the electrical circuits and high speed optical circuits.
