中文摘要: 准晶体具有旋转对称性,但无平移对称性。其平移对称性的缺失给准晶结构的解析带来了极大的困难。迄今未止,人们仍未能找到合适的方法来揭开准晶体的原位三维晶体结构之谜。本课题将利用新近发展起来的可达原子级分辨的电子断层三维重构技术,结合原子级分辨的高角环形暗场-扫描透射电子显微像,解析Al-Cr-Si二维十次准晶的原位三维晶体结构。跟用传统的电子显微学分析准晶结构相比,该方法的突出特点是将准晶体的原位结构信息从二维拓展到了三维空间;跟用X射线衍射解析准晶的结构相比,该方法能给出准晶的原位三维晶体结构信息而不是平均结构信息,因而能更好的反映准晶的真实三维结构。同时,该方法有望推广到解析更复杂的三维准晶体结构。

英文摘要: Quasicrystal is a metallic phase with long-range orientational order and no translational symmetry, where the lacking of the latter has obstructed the determination of the crystal structure of quasicrystals.There is still no suitable way to solve the local crystal structure of quasicrystals in three-dimensional space so far. In this proposal, we will solve the local crystal structure of Al-Cr-Si decagonal quasicrystals at three-dimensional space by using electron tomography based on the high angle annual dark field-scanning transmission electron microscopy images at atomic resolution. The final crystal structure of decagonal quasicrystals represents the local structural information at three-dimensional space, showing merits over the averaged structure by X-ray diffraction and two-dimensional structure by traditional transmission electron microscopy. It provides avenue for solving more complicated quasicrystals, e.g. three-dimensional icosahedral quasicrystals.
