中文摘要: 随着个人电脑和互联网的普及,大众已不单单是电子信息的使用者,也成为了 电子信息的重要提供者。目前,用于分享信息的网络平台大都使用非结构化数据,如文本、 图片、视频等。非结构化数据虽然易于人使用,却难以被计算机自动处理,这限制了这些数 据的应用范围。相反,结构化数据(如数据库的数据)虽然易于计算机处理,却不易被普通 用户所掌握,因而始终难以成为大众化的信息媒介。本项申请提出"基于语义分析的数据库 交互技术",旨在传统数据库上建立一套交互式访问系统,让普通用户能够通过自然语言和 简单的人机交互对数据库进行查询和输入,从而将数据库转换成能被大众使用的信息分享平 台。本课题组将结合自然语言处理技术,搜索引擎技术和人机交互技术对数据库的交互功能 进行深入的理论研究,并开发出新颖的交互系统。我们相信项目的研究成果在数据库易用性、 搜索引擎的语义分析、以及语义互联网的数据生成等领域都具有理论价值。

英文摘要: Users are not only consumers but also authors of the contents on the World Wide Web. The existing Web platforms are mainly used for sharing unstructured data, such as text, pictures, video, etc. While unstrcutured data is easily consumable for most Web users, it is diffcicult for computers to understand. Hence, unstructured data has limited utility in computer dominated applications. In contrast,structured data (such as the data in a relational database) is intended to be processed by computer. However, as structured data is not easy to use for normal Web users, it is not yet a mainstream media for infomration exchange. This project aims to investigate the semantic techonologies for database interaction, so that we can create a convenient interface on top of conventional databases that would enable unskilled users to access databases easily. Our ultimate goal is to transform a database system into a common Web platform for sharing structured contents. In the project, we are going to apply the theories and methods of Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval and Human Computer Interaction to database, and propose novel mechanisms for user-database interaction.
