中文摘要: 以过程纹理模型生成及表示纹理多年来一直是纹理研究领域的一个重要方向,相关研究已被广泛应用于计算机游戏、动画、生态、地质、医学等多个领域。然而,如何设置模型参数以产生用户需要的纹理类型是一直困扰研究人员的问题。产生此问题的原因是这些过程纹理模型是单纯的数学模型,并未与人类视觉的感知机理相关联,模型参数也无法与视觉感知描述量建立起映射联系。 本项目研究自然纹理生成模型及模型参数与人类视觉感知描述量的联系,在大量心理物理学实验数据的基础上,建立视觉感知描述量到纹理生成模型、进而到模型参数的数学映射关系模型。研究目标是当用户以视觉感知量值描述需要产生的纹理类型时,利用映射关系模型自动找到相应的纹理生成模型,同时给出产生该类纹理所需要的模型参数取值范围。本项目的研究具有深刻的理论探索意义,同时也有较强的应用价值,研究成果可以为多种设计软件提供符合人类视觉感知描述的自然纹理生成算法。

英文摘要: Texture generation and represention based on procedural texture models is an important research field. Research output has been widely used in computer games, animation, ecology, geology, medicine and many other fields. One of the tricky part of such research is how to set the parameter values to generate different types of texture that can satisfy user requirement. This is because procedual texture models are purely mathematical models, which have no direct link to the human visual perception mechanism and model parameters are unable to be mapped to descriptive scales of human visual perception. This research project aims to reveal the connection between natural texture generation model and human visual perception.Based on extensive psychophysical experiments, we wish to establish mathematical models that can connect visual perception descriptors and procedural texture generation models, and further map these descriptors to corresponding model parameters. Our goal is to automatically decide a procedural texture generation model when users provide relavent perceptual scales that can describe desired output texture; meanwhile, corresponding parameter range of the model can also be given. The research of this project is not only theoretically significant, but also practically useful in engineering application,
