中文摘要: 本计划提出一种新型的太赫兹频段天线分析与设计方法,旨在克服习知的共振式平面天线无法在单芯片积体电路基板,因基板厚度约是电磁波在真空中波长的0.001倍,无法正常辐射和金属损耗过大,而必需外挂的物理障碍。利用微带线非共振式的第一高阶泄漏波模态( microstrip EH1 leaky mode),本计划借着延伸一维线性的近似TEM 的合成波导至二维平面,进一步克服单晶基板过薄所造成的大量金属损耗之物理障碍。为了能进一步了解及掌握泄露波在极薄的基板且在有限金属电导的情况下之物理特性,结合空气模(air mode) 及 金属模( metal mode)的格林函数展开式来解出泄露波模之复数传播常数。据此,本案得以和商业的电磁软体比对,发展出设计新型天线的严谨理论与方法,得以复制或改进此新型的单芯片积体化太赫兹天线。

英文摘要: This proposal presents a new approach to the analysis and design of a class of terahertz planar integrated antenna on a monolithic substrate of thickness at the order of 0.001λ0, which is too thin for the commonly known resonant-type antenna to function properly, for being susceptible to low radiation and excessively high conductor losses. Adopting the excitation of the first higher-order mode of a microstrip, the proposal extends the one-dimensional synthetic quasi-TEM (transverse-electric-and-magnetic) mode transmission line, which applies unit cells in one dimension, to form an array of a two-dimensional periodical structure. This enables the synthesis of two-dimensional planes, constituting both upper and lower surfaces of the proposed synthetic transmission line, supporting the leaky EH1 mode. One monolithic antenna design example explains how to overcome the shortcomings of excessive losses caused by the ultra-thin substrate using the extended two-dimensional synthetic periodical structure of periodicity much smaller than the operating wavelength.
