中文摘要: 碳酸盐clumped同位素地质测温需要依赖精确的Δ47温度校正曲线。然而,Ghosh et al.(2006)和Dennis and Schrag(2010)相互矛盾的校正曲线却为这一新技术的使用增添了迷雾。目前,导致校正曲线不一致的根本原因依然没有定论,而解决该问题无疑是这一领域最紧迫的任务之一。为求解决之道,我们需要更好地理解clumped同位素分馏的物理化学驱动力以及实验过程可能导致分馏差异的原因。为此,我们从同位素到达平衡所需反应时间和酸解过程的反应机理着手,为该问题的解决提供理论支撑:到达平衡所需反应时间是决定同位素平衡与否的关键因素,很可能是低温端碳酸盐clumped同位素非平衡的源头,但却在clumped同位素领域鲜有研究;而酸解机理的复杂性可能导致实验过程动力学分馏的差异,虽有研究(Guo et al.,2009),但其模型却在反应时间上与实验中CO2的快速释放相矛盾。

英文摘要: Carbonate clumped isotope paleothermometry relies on the accuracy of calibration for temperature-dependent Δ47 values. However, discrepant calibrations of Ghosh et al. (2006) and Dennis and Schrag (2010) raised puzzles for the use of this new paleotemperature proxy. So far, the source of the discrepancy is still unclear, which aroused resolution of this problem as one of the most urgent tasks in this field. For exploring this issue, we need a better understanding of physical/chemical driving forces of clumped isotope fractionation and possible sources of kinetic effects in experimental processes. Therefore, we propose the study on the time required to reach clumped isotope equilibrium in carbonates and reaction mechanism for the acid digestion process. The former is a key factor for determining isotopic equilibrium, and a high possibility to lead nonequilibrium of carbonate clumped isotope at low temperature, while is barely studied for clumped isotope geochemistry. The latter may create discrepant kinetic isotope fractionation for Ghosh et al. (2006) and Dennis and Schrag (2010)'s experiments, and needs to be better evaluated because the previous work (Guo et al., 2009) suggested unrealistically long time needed for CO2 release which deviates from the experiment observation.
