Understanding how the brain motorium works and the motor behavior development is one of the greatest challenges facing human brain science. In particular, for both the development process is causality or linear relationships is still controversial. Nonhuman primate is the most suitable experimental animal to study human brain and behavior development because of its close phylogenetic relationship with humans. But few study on infant nonhuman primate about brain and behavior development. This research focus on the infant (0-6 months age) rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) to study the brain motorium development using a 9.4T high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and to study motor behavior development using behavior sampling methods. Our goals are to clarify the quantitative correlation between brain motorium and motor behavior development in infant rhesus macaque, and also to establish a set of assessment method to assess infant macaque motor behavior development. The results of this project will provide critical information for future study on brain and behavior develop mechanism in nonhuman primate. Meanwhile, the restlts of this study have potential value to understanding brain motorium and motor behavior development mechanism in human society.
