Through integrated field experiments and monitoring on the water, energy, and CO2 fluxes over the groundwater and Yellow River water irrigated lands, we analysed the difference of the fluxes between these two-water-source irrigated fields, and quantified the partitioning of the evapotranspiration. This research explored the water use mechanism of winter wheat, which is the most important water consuming crop in NCP, by combining micrometeorologic and isotopic method. We also constructed an energy balance based land surface model to simulate the change in energy and water balance over Hai River Basin in the past 30 years, discussed the impacts of irrigation development and lang use change on regional energy and water fluxes. Through the carrying-out of this project, we established and enhanced the overvation systems on water/energy fluxes and water transformation in G-SPAC system in NCP. These facilities will continue to contribute to clarify the water cycle mechanisms in agro-ecosystems and help understanding the susteainability of water resources and grain production in NCP. In the past 3 yeats, 13 papers were worked out and published in peer reviewed journals, among them there are 3 papers are in ISI indexed journals, another 2 patents are received with regard to some techniques in the field experiments. 5 graudate students carried out their researches under this project's support, 3 of them obtained their degrees, and the other 2 will be expected graduate in coming year.
