中文摘要: 为了满足日益增长的计算性能需求,通过集成更多内核形成众核芯片处理器成为必然选择。目前众核芯片在云计算、移动设备、高性能计算等领域得到广泛应用。然而众核芯片规模和计算性能的增长导致芯片功耗快速增长,成为众核芯片发展的主要制约。本项目主要研究低功耗的高性能片上网络的一系列系统架构级的关键问题,研究课题包括研究低功耗异构多片上网络的整体设计;设计多片上网络各个子网络的低功耗路由协议和路由器;制定相关网络拥塞的的检测策略和拥塞状态信息的快速传播和收集方法;建立低功耗多片上网络的网络模型、功率模型,和电源门控节能效果和网络性能综合评估和选择机制,探讨应用不同类型的异构多片上网络以构建低功耗、高性能众核通讯机制的新理论和新方法。

英文摘要: In order to meet the ever increasing demand for high performance computing power, it is inevitable to integrate more and more cores on a single chip to form many-core chip multiprocessor (CMP). CMPs have been widely used in cloud computing, mobile devices, high performance computing etc. The increasing of the chip performance, however, comes with explosive growth in power consumption, preventing it from further growth in CMP performance. This project mainly studies the key issues of energy-efficient network-on-chip (NoC) in architectural level. The major topics include research on the energy-efficient heterogeneous NoC architecture; design of routing protocol and router architecture in multiple NoCs; studying the related network congestion metric, propagation and collection mechanism of congestion information;establishing energy-efficient multiple NoC model, power model, and the trade-off mechanism between power-gating and network performance. The main purpose is to study and explore the new theory and methods in building energy-efficient multiple network-on-chip (NoC) in many-core CMPs.
