中文摘要: 阿尔兹海默病(AD)是引起老年痴呆的重要原因之一,对病人、家庭、社会危害极大。目前的医疗技术还无法对AD进行有效的治疗;但是,如果在AD发病之前(即MCI期)进行合理治疗,可以有效延缓病程,提高患者的生存质量。因此,AD的早期诊断对指导其治疗意义重大。本项目利用对脑部MR纵向图像序列的分析来实现对AD病人、正常人的模式分类,并以此为基础实现AD的早期诊断。我们将研究新型的针对AD早前检测的计算机辅助纵向跟踪方法,建立AD病人、正常人群体中脑结构随时间萎缩、变化的模型,分析不同人群相应模型的差异。这样,通过定量跟踪、比较特定样本脑结构随时间的变化趋势,我们就可以判断该样本是否隶属于AD病人群体,达到对该样本早期诊断的目的。本项目的研究内容包括纵向图像配准、构建纵向图谱和脑结构变化模型、提取脑结构纵向变化特征及基于统计学的模式分类方法。本项目应用前景广阔,可用于认知障碍的临床诊断等。

英文摘要: The Alzheimer's disease (AD) is one of the most common factors that cause dementia in elderly people. It thus incurs tremendous hazouds to patients, families, as well as the society. Contemporary treatment of AD is still limited in clinical trials. However, proper interventions prior to AD (i.e., at the stage of MCI) are able to effectively defer the progress of AD and then substantially improve living qualities of potential patients. Therefore, the early diagnosis of AD is fundamentally important to its treatment. In this project, we aim to utilize longitudinal sequences of brain MR images for the sake of classification between AD patients and normal controls, which in turn leads to the early diagnosis of AD. We will investigate novel methods towards computed-aided longitudinal image analysis, establish models that describe atropies of brain structures in AD patients as well normal controls, and then figure out differences between the two populations. Via quantitative tracking and comparison with respect to a new subject, we are able to determine whether this subject belongs to the patient population or not, which is equivalent to the solution of the early diagnosis. This project will cover a variety topics including longitudinal image registration, longitudianl atlas construction, brain growth-model, extraction of longitudinal features, statistics-based pattern classification, etc. We believe that this project is potential to be applied in many scenarios, e.g., clinical diagnoses of neural diseases.
