中文摘要: 计算机字库在文字信息的处理与传播过程中起着重要的作用。但是使用现有方法制作高质量中文字库耗时费力、成本昂贵,导致计算机中文字体的数量和种类都难以满足日益增长的各种应用需求。本项目拟通过对汉字构字原理、中文书法理论、字体设计经验以及字库制作规范的分析与研究,应用和改进计算机图形学、计算机视觉、模式识别与人工智能学科的相关理论与技术,提出新的适用于汉字字形的骨架生成、笔画自动提取、形状描述、字体特征提取以及字体风格融合方法,并基于这些形状分析与处理技术开发出一个能够自动生成高质量中文字库的原型系统。本系统的实现一方面将显著提高中文字库的开发效率,另一方面让个性化手写中文字库的广泛使用成为可能。本项目的研究将推动面向汉字的形状分析与处理技术的发展,促进汉字书法在计算机中的使用与传播,具有重要的理论和应用价值,预期将产生显著的社会与经济效益。

英文摘要: Computer fonts play an important role in the processing and communication of character information. However, it is time-consuming and costly to produce high-quality Chinese fonts using existing methods. Thereby, both the number and the variety of Chinese fonts are not sufficient for the increasing demands in various applications. By analyzing and investigating the Chinese character building principles, Chinese calligraphy writing theories, font designing experiences, and font producing standards, this project intends to apply and modify the theories and techniques of Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence to propose new methods for the skeleton generation, stroke segmentation, shape description, font feature extraction, and font style composition of Chinese character shapes. Then, these new methods for shape analysis and processing will be used to develop a prototypical system that can automatically generate high-quality Chinese fonts. The realization of this system on the one hand could significantly improve the efficiency for the production of Chinese fonts, on the other hand could make the prevalence of personal handwritten Chinese fonts be possible.
