Optomechanically induced nonlinearity through optical forces in nanophotonic structures provides a new route for the realization of optical nonlinearity at low intensities. Recently, the study of optical forces in metamaterials and the development of mechanically reconfigurable metamaterials pave the way for nonlinear optomechanical metamaterials. On the basis of our prior work, this project makes use of low-loss planar dielectric metamaterials and aims to: (1) Study the mechanism for generation and enhancement of resonant near-field optical forces in dielectric metamaterials and optimize the design of optomechanical metamaterials using three-dimensional electromagnetic numerical simulations; (2) Explore and improve the nanofabrication methods for optomechanical metamaterials; (3) And experimentally demonstrate optomechanically induced nonlinearity in optomechanical metamaterials, which will provide solid theoretical and experimental foundation to study the optical-mechanical interactions through optical forces in metamaterials as well as related physical phenomena such as optomechanically induced transparency in depth. This project will enhance our understanding of light-matter interactions in the nanoscale and is of great significance for the research of nonlinear/reconfigurable metamaterials and the developme
