中文摘要: 手征特异材料可以实现手性负折射、极化调制等新效应,受到了广泛的关注。我们在前期研究中直接实验观测了金属螺旋阵列中的手征负折射、宽极化禁带等新效应,研制了宽带波片。本课题将围绕金属螺旋复式格子阵列和离散性手征特异材料两种体系开展电磁波偏振和输运调控方面的研究工作,还将尝试实验验证金属螺旋阵列中纵电磁波模式、非对称传输等新奇现象。通过课题研究,进一步发展适用于螺旋对称性特异材料的理论方法,以表征金属螺旋线阵列和离散螺旋对称的平面手征特异材料中的局域模式的互耦以及对电磁波输运和偏振的调控,深入发掘手征特异材料的电磁波偏振调控新功能。

英文摘要: Chiral metamaterials, which have attracted considerable interests, could be utilized to realize various exotic features, including negative refraction and polarization manipulation. In preliminary studies, we directly demonstrated negative refraction, polarization gap, and invented a broadband wave plate with metallic helix array. In this project, investigations on manipulating polarization and propagation of electromagnetic waves will be implemented in two systems, complex lattice metallic helix array and discrete chiral metamaterials. Exotic features, including longitudinal electromagnetic mode, asymmetric propagation within polarization gap, will be experimentally demonstrated. Based on these findings, multiple scattering theory for system with helical symmetry will be developed to investigate the coulping between local modes and polarization manipulation in metallic helix array and twisted planar chiral metametamaterials. The new features of the electromagnetic wave polarization manipulation in chiral metamaterials will be deep explored.
