中文摘要: 窄线赛弗特I型(NLS1)星系是一类特殊的活动星系核(AGN)。它们来自宽线区的巴尔末发射线谱线宽度窄,以小黑洞质量和高爱丁顿比为特征,有可能是还处于演化早期阶段的AGN,在AGN/黑洞/星系形成与演化中有着重要意义。本申请项目将利用地面和空间望远镜的多波段数据,通过大样本的统计研究及特殊个源的深入研究,为NLS1星系的物理图像提供观测上的启示和限制。主要研究内容包括:(1)系统搜寻具有极强谱线蓝移的射电躁NLS1星系,探讨高速外流的起源及反馈机制;(2)开展大样本NLS1 星系的成团性研究,探讨环境对NLS1活动性起源的影响;(3)搜寻NLS1星系的II型对应体,进行NLS1星系统一模型的验证。

英文摘要: Narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies are a peculiar sub-type of active galactic nuclei (AGN) with the narrowest Balmer lines from the broad-line region. Their commonly thought low black hole (BH) masses, high accretion rates, and perhaps young ages allow us to address issues of black hole growth. As such, NLS1 galaxies hold important clues to AGN/BH/galaxy formation/evolution. We propose statistical studies of a large NLS1 sample and multi-wavelength case studies of pecuilar NLS1 galaxies, based on multi-wavelength data from ground-based and space telescopes, aimed at providing new insights in, and constraints on, the NLS1 phenomenon. The main topics are: (1) a systematic search for radio-loud NLS1 galaxies with stong blueshifted emission lines to explore the causes of extreme outflows and feedback due to such strong outflows; (2) a study of the clustering of NLS1 galaxies using a large NLS1 sample to investigate the environmental effect on the trigger of nuclear activity of NLS1 galaxies; (3) a search for the possible type II counterparts of NLS1 galaxies to test the unification model for NLS1 galaxies.
