中文摘要: 动词是人类语言所共有的基本语法类别之一,也是语义记忆研究中的重要材料。然而,人们对动词语义加工的脑机制仍知之甚少。根据现有证据,研究者们普遍认为后外侧颞叶皮层是负责动词语义加工的关键脑区之一,并假设该脑区的功能与对动词的运动信息和逻辑结构的加工有关。本项目将通过两方面的研究对后外侧颞叶皮层在动词语义加工中的作用给出新的启示。第一,我们将考察被以往研究所忽视的一类动词语义信息--社会性语义信息对后外侧颞叶皮层激活的影响。第二,我们将建立动词语义特征与后外侧颞叶皮层激活模式间的映射模型,并通过考察模型对动词刺激的预测能力对其可靠性加以评估。我们预期,本项目将可对后外侧颞叶皮层在动词语义加工中的作用给出新颖、系统的阐释,并在一定程度上揭示语义加工过程中的神经活动规律。

英文摘要: Verbs exist in all human languages and are important materials for studies of semantic memory. However, the brain mechanisms underlying verb semantic processing are still poorly understood. The posterior lateral temporal cortex (PLTC) is widely believed to play an important role in verb understanding. It has been assumed that PLTC is in charge of processing motion knowledge and logical structures of verbs. This project will provide new insight into the function of PLTC by conducting two sets of research. First, we will investigate whether the social semantic information of verbs, which has been largely overlooked by previous studies, modulates PLTC activation. Second, we will build computational models that can map PLTC activation to verb semantic features and make predictions about the verbs being thought of. We expect that this project will shed new light on the role of PLTC in verb semantic processing and improve our understanding of the regularities underlying neural processing of meaning.
