Micro- and nanoscale metallic glassy wires are high-strength materials developed recently. Sub-micro scale metallic glassy wires have high strength and good ductility. However, micro scale metallic glassy wires fracture catastrophically without any tensile ductility under tension due to formation of shear band. Electrodeposition will be used to mitigate dynamic instability of local shear in micro scale metallic glassy wires. Firstly, we will optimize the electrodeposition technique to produce uniform metal layers with high interface quality. Based on this, we will summary the relationship between electrodeposition process, composition of the deposited metal, thickness of the deposited layer and mechanical behavior of electrodeposited metallic glass wire. Furthermore, in-situ tensile test and characterization of structure evolution will be performed to unravel the physical mechanism of the deformation behavior of electrodeposited metallic glassy wires.
