英文摘要: Electromechanical failures of Dielectric elastomer involve many effects as the fracture of soft material, electric breakdown and electromechanical instabilities. Study in Dielectric elastomer electromechanical failure is very important for instructing both the theory and the applications. In the practical applications, electromechanical failures severely suppress the electromechanical performances of DE structures. Controlling or harnessing the electromechanical failure becomes crucial to the performances enhancement of Dielectric elastomer devices. This project investigates the Dielectric elastomer electromechanical failure. Based on experiments, fracture under electromechanical loads and electromechanical instability behaviors will be investigated with considering the viscoelastic effects. Dielectric elastomer electromechanical failure models and related numerical methods will be developed. New actuation mechanism with controlling or harnessing the electromechanical failure will be utilized in practical device models to enhance the performances.
