To develop high-efficiency and high-resolution diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) techniques.
Study 1: High-resolution dMRI using 2D/3D multi-shot EPI
3D multi-slab can achieve isotropic high resolution, thus providing more details in all directions. 2D ms-EPI only has high in-plane resolution and shows finer structural details in the transverse plane.
Study 2: High-efficiency dMRI using SMS
SMS accelerated ms-EPI can achieve comparable image quality as un-accelerated scans, but with a largely reduced scan time (from 15:56 to 8:49). Both of them show more derails and less distortion than ss-EPI.
