中微子是人们了解最少的基本粒子。1998年和2002年发现的中微子振荡,证明中微子有质量,被授予了2015年诺贝尔物理学奖。这是唯一超越粒子物理标准模型的实验现象,有可能导致新物理的发现。本报告将简述中微子实验的历程、目前进展、以及未来的计划。

3In situ nonlinear optical studies of surfaces and interfaces

The surface-specific nonlinear optical techniques are highly complementary to most conventional surface probes utilizing charged particles. Being purely optical, they can access interfacial systems that are otherwise difficult to probe. In this talk, I will talk about our recent in situ nonlinear optical studies on: 1) electrochemical reactions at the buried electrode/electrolyte interfaces; 2) the interaction between adsorbates and lattice on catalytic oxide surfaces. The unique in situ capability of the technique brings us new insight into these systems toward the mechanistic understanding of related surface phenomena.
4Quantum criticality and duality in the SYK/AdS2 chain

We show that the quantum critical point (QCP) between a diffusive metal and ferromagnetic (or antiferromagnetic) phases in the SYK chain has a gravitational description corresponding to the double-trace deformation in an AdS2 chain. Specifically, by studying a double-trace deformation of a Z2 scalar in an AdS2 chain where the Z2 scalar is dual to the order parameter in the SYK chain, we find that the susceptibility and renormalization group equation describing the QCP in the SYK chain can be exactly reproduced in the holographic model. Our results suggest that the infrared geometry in the gravity theory dual to the diffusive metal of the SYK chain is also an AdS2 chain. Moreover, such correspondence can be readily generalized to SYK models in two and higher dimensions. (Ref: arXiv:1709.02810)
5Lyman Alpha Galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization

Young galaxies in the early universe are expected to be strong Lyα emitters (LAEs), and can be selected with high efficiency via narrowband imaging. The neutral hydrogen atoms in the IGM scatter/attenuate the Lyα emission from primordial galaxies, making LAEs a sensitive probe to cosmic reionization. I will give an introduction to the field, briefly review world-wide progresses, and present our own project “Lyman Alpha Galaxies in the Epoch of Reionization” (LAGER), an international collaboration in searching for LAEs at redshift of ~ 7.0 with large area Dark Energy Camera narrowband survey.
6Mid-J CO Line Emission in LIRGs

I will present our analysis results on the mid-J CO line emission over galaxy scale from a large sample of local luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs) surveyed with Herschel Space Observatory and the CO (6-5) line emission over scales of 30-100 pc in the nuclei of representative LIRGs observed with the Atacama Large Millimeter Array. The mid-J CO line emission acts as the cooling mechanism for the dense molecular gas that is giving birth to and also receiving energetic feedback from young stars. I will highlight what we have learnt from these observations with respect to the interplay between molecular gas, star formation and active galactic nuclei within individual galaxies and along the sequence from normal star-forming galaxies to those dominated by extreme nuclear star formation.
