The fracture of concrete includes the processes of damage evolution, crack generation and growth, etc. In view of the stochastic damage evolution in front of the crack tip, crack propagation and material damage evolution are coupling. By multiple means of theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and typical experiments, the project plans to in-depth study the coupling mechanism of the nonlinear fracture and stochastic damage of concrete. A theoretical model for the coupling fracture and stochastic damage of concrete will be developed and verified by tests where strain and damage in fracture process zone will be measured. Furthermore, an analysis system for the whole fracture process of concrete will be developed by adopting the permissible damage scale as a criterion and based on the numerical study of crack generation and growth for coupled stochastic damage and fracture of concrete. The project will shed light on the development and improvement of the theory for concrete fracture initiation and expansion. And the research results can be applied to analyze the fracture of concrete dams in practice and provide the safety evaluation basis for the cracks of concrete dams during construction and operation periods.
