Based on the viewpoints that the approach of preventing and treating diseases of Traditional Chinese (Veterinary) Medicine is protecting the structure of maintainign cellular environment and activating its function, and that the mechanism for treating bacterial diseases of Chinese herbal medicine prescriptions (CHMPs) is to block off bacterial toxin injury to microvascular endothelial cells (MVECs), this study aims to explore a novel way for scavenging bacteria that differs from antibiotic-like effects. We would investigate the difference of neutrophil lysozymes in tissues infected pathogenic bacteria and non-pathogenic bacteria, the effect of bacterial toxin-injured MVECs on neutrophil lysozymes and the regulation of CHMPs on that, and the cytokine activating neutrophil lysozymes. Thus, it is expected to be confirmed that the mechanism scavenging bacteria of antibacterial CHMPs is activating neutrophil lysozymes by influencing MVECs, and the cytokines producted by MVECs that activates neutrophil lysozymes is expected to be determined. The study would contribute to the establishment of formulating principle for antibacterial Chinese herbal medicinal ingredients and the development of novel drugs treating bacterial diseases, and ultimately ensure the safety of animal products at the source.
