中文摘要: 多波长光纤激光器是未来密集波分复用光通信系统的理想光源,本项目提出利用非线性偏振旋转效应来实现光纤激光器的稳定多波长产生。非线性偏振旋转通常用于光纤激光器的被动锁模,因为它能产生强度相关传输而作为一等效饱和吸收体,即高强度光通过、低强度光阻止。但是非线性偏振旋转效应本身是会饱和的,它诱导的强度相关损耗能有效抑制均匀加宽增益介质中的模式竞争,是一种新的多波长产生机理和方法。另一方面,不使用传统的体滤波器,而是直接在激光腔内插入一段保偏光纤,保偏光纤将与激光器原有偏振相关隔离器构成一等效双折射光纤梳状滤波器,它的波长间隔可以通过改变保偏光纤长度来选取,波长可以通过偏振来精密调谐。此外,基于非线性偏振旋转光纤激光器有两种不同的工作模式,即被动锁模和多波长输出,而且通过调节偏振两种工作模式之间可以互相切换,它将是一种可全光纤集成、操作简单的多功能光纤激光器。

英文摘要: We proposed a nonlinear-polarization-rotation (NPR) based multiwavelength fiber laser, which can be adjustable with the use of in-line birefringence fiber filter. The mechanism for stable room-temperature multiwavelength operation contributes to that the intensity- and wavelength-depended loss in NPR effect can effectively alleviate mode competition. Through tuning the birefringence fiber filter incorporated by a polarizer and a section of polarization maintenance fiber, the laser wavelength can be accurately tuned in the free spectrum range of the in-line periodic filter. In addition, both passively mode-locked pulses and continuous-wave multiwavelength can be generated from a same fiber laser based on NPR just through adjusting polarizations. So it is a potential multifunction laser source with all-fiber configuration and convenient manipulation.
