中文摘要: 高纬度珊瑚礁被认为是未来气候变暖下珊瑚物种的避难所。气候变化对高纬度珊瑚礁发育过程的调控机制以及珊瑚礁的响应和适应研究对预测珊瑚礁未来以及制定应对气候变化的政策等都有重要的科学意义。但目前国际上对该领域的研究仍显不足,对于发育过程如何响应气候变化等关键问题并不清楚,类似的研究工作在南海则更加缺乏。本项目以南海北部涠洲岛珊瑚礁作为典型,用水下调查和地球物理观测技术获得珊瑚礁地貌等现代过程资料,用振动取样和水下钻机相结合的方法获得多条珊瑚礁柱状岩芯,分析其造礁生物组成等礁相的变化,同时开展高精度年代测定以及高分辨率元素和同位素地球化学指标分析,用于揭示高纬度珊瑚礁的发育过程、发育模式以及气候变化的调控作用。项目开展将为高纬度珊瑚礁发育演化响应气候变化的研究带来新的认识,并有助于预测未来全球变化背景下高纬度珊瑚礁的发育趋势,也有助于我国在海洋领域科学应对气候变化政策的制定。

英文摘要: High-latitude coral reefs have been considered as the refuges for coral species under rapid global warming. The mechanisms of climate changes regulating the high-latitude reef development and the responses and flexibility of coral reefs to climatic changes are very important for scientifically predicting the future of high-latitude coral reefs and constituting the policy of protection. However, relevant researches were still lacking currently, and some key issues such as how do coral reefs respond to climate changes were still unclear. Similar works do seriously lack in the northern South China Sea. Coral reefs at Weizhou Island are selected in this project as a research example. Reef growth, growth model and responses to climate changes will be explored through ecological survey, seismic profiles, reef core drilling, reef facies analyses, high-precision U/Th dating, and high-resolution elemental and isotope geochemical proxy analyses. The research achievements of this project will provide theoretical bases for scientifically predicting future trajectories of high-latitude coral reefs and their adaptation strategies, and policy setting associated with climate changes.
