Dr. Beibei Wang is an associate professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology. She obtained her PhD degree and Bachelor's degree from Shandong University, in 2014 and in 2009, respectively. She visited Telecom ParisTech from 2012 to 2014, and worked as a postdoc with Inria from 2015 to 2017. She joined at Nanjing University of Science and Technology at 2017.
Her research is rendering in Computer Graphics, including complex appearance modeling, global illumination and real-time rendering. She has participated in R&D of Disney Infinity 3. She serves as a PC member for EGSR and HPG.
Talk title: Complex Appearance Modeling: from the microfacet model to the microflake model
Abstract: There are many kinds of materials in the real world: smooth materials (e.g., metal, plastic), materials with tiny structures (e.g., scratches and glints), and materials made of fibers (e.g., cloth and wood). So, how can we represent these materials for rendering? In this talk, we will introduce several different representation models proposed by our team, which solve the multiple scattering problem in the microfacet model, the multi-scale rendering problem of the microstructure model, and the new "SpongeCake" microflake model.
